TerraMet

TerraMet, Privacy, and You

Overview

We strongly support your right to privacy. TerraMet is a viewer for publicly available weather and water data from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR). It does not require an account, and it does not collect or sell your personal information.

Information We Do Not Collect

TerraMet does not ask you to sign in and does not gather personal details. Specifically, the app does not collect:

Location

With your permission, TerraMet uses your device's location for a single purpose: to center the station map near you so you can quickly find nearby stations. Your location stays on your device and is not transmitted to us or to any third party.

Granting location access is optional. You can deny or revoke it at any time in your device settings, and the app will continue to work — the map simply will not start centered on your position.

Station Data

To display readings, TerraMet requests publicly available observations from USBR data services and a station directory used to populate the map. These requests transmit only the information needed to retrieve the data, such as the station ID and the date range you are viewing. No personal information is included in these requests.

On-Device Storage

Your preferences — such as selected stations, chart settings, and per-station threshold reference lines — are stored locally on your device so the app remembers them between launches. This information is not uploaded to us.

Third-Party Services

Station observations are provided by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, a U.S. government agency. When the app contacts a server, that server may record standard request metadata (such as an IP address and the time of the request) in its own logs, as is typical for any internet service. The app itself does not attach personal identifiers to those requests.

Children's Privacy

TerraMet is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Questions and Feedback

Our privacy policy might change or be edited for clarity over time. Up-to-date information will always be available from this page.
